Tips Summary By Total Rides
Here we dive deeper into tips. This chart shows cumulative data. There were 1131 total rides, the total of all tips was $1207.24. The average tip for 1131 rides would be $1.07 which doesn’t mean much here. The maximum single tip was $19.99. The minimum tip given was $.20 and I’d like to think that is an entry error on the part of the customer. I would hope they meant $2.00. Or more.
The second row shows there were 271 tipped rides and 860 no tip rides. 24% of riders tipped. 76% did not tip.

Tips By Ride Category
I drive Uber X level only. I do take Pet rides and I also qualify for Uber X Priority. Row 5 has an empty Ride Category for some reason. Pet rides tip the best.

Tips Distribution Ranges
The data below shows the distribution of tip amounts.

Tips By Time Of Day
Which times of day are best for tips? The chart shows I don’t drive enough late at night.

Tips By Day Of The Week
I’m mostly a weekend driver and this data confirms that. It probably shouldn’t surprsise anyone that Friday riders tip the best.

Tips By Distance
Some interesting data here as it appears the longer the ride the better the tips. See the “avg_tip” column. Passengers with rides in the 5 -10 mile range are most inclined to tip and at a rate of 27.3%

Tips By Week – Rolling Totals
A rolling weekly total for tips in the first 30 weeks of 2026.

Tips Impact On Earnings
So how important are tips? Earnings from tips increased total income by 27.5% compared to fares alone.
