Guilt Tipping: Uber Fares Are Getting Lower

McGrath Highway in Cambridge. On my way to a pit stop at the McDonald’s up the street.

More and more I’m getting “guilt tips”. That’s where the customer knows how little the driver is paid and gives a large tip out of guilt. Here’s an example.

This passenger gave a tip of nearly 75%!! The original Uber fee was a very low number for an airport trip from Watertown.

This passenger gave nearly a 75% tip!! The Uber offered fair to the driver for this ride was a very poor $12.32. With the nine dollar tip it brought the fair up to $21 and change. That’s about right for an airport trip from Watertown to Logan airport.

Good Americans want other Americans to be able to make a decent living wage. For drivers of Uber and Lyft that’s very difficult. That’s why they go on food stamps and seek energy subsidies for the winter months. Citizens of Massachusetts can pay Uber drivers a decent wage or they can pay more in taxes to subsidize Uber.

Shame on governor Healy and AG Campelll office, A disgrace and these two complicit to the ride share companies should be investigated. All 78,000 rideshare drivers should demand and investigation into the civil right violations of our State goverment, .
